Heads up: Pampered Pet Bark Bath has permanently closed (September 2025). This page is kept as a fond remembrance of the shop.
2024 – 2025 · Belle View, Alexandria

Thank you for loving your suds with us.

For a joyful stretch in the Belle View Shopping Center, Pampered Pet Bark Bath was the neighborhood's happy place for a clean, comfy dog — six bubbly bath stations, helping hands when you wanted them, and a fresh-groom smile on the way out the door.

The shop has since closed, but the soggy-eared memories — and the bond Karen and the team built with so many Alexandria dogs — aren't going anywhere.

Our Story

It started with one dog named Zeus.

Owner Karen Echeverri left a 20-year corporate career to do something that made her happy — caring for pets — inspired by her pit bull, Zeus, whose face became the shop's logo.

Karen, originally from Long Island, managed a pet store in Old Town Alexandria for five years before opening Pampered Pet Boutique & Barkery at 1612 Belle View Blvd in October 2021, with a grand opening that December. The boutique was built around holistic and raw nutrition, an off-leash “come as you are” atmosphere, and a simple motto: “We pamper your pet just like our own.”

In 2024 the family grew next door. Pampered Pet Bark Bath opened at 1614 Belle View Blvd — a bright, easy place to wash, dry, and pamper your dog without flooding the bathroom at home. Together, the two storefronts made one little corner of Belle View a true pet-parent destination.

What We Offered

Everything a dog needs for a good scrub-up.

From a quick rinse after a muddy walk to a full spa day, the Bark Bath kept things friendly, practical, and easy to fit around a busy week of errands.

Self Wash

Six bath stations, your way

Walk in or book a standing slot and take over one of six raised tubs — warm water, sprayers, and supplies on hand so you could lather, rinse, and fluff at your own pace, no mess left at home.

Assisted Wash

Extra hands when you wanted them

Prefer a little help? The team pitched in for a calmer, cleaner bath — a full wash and dry with thoughtful add-ons like a conditioning and soothing-pad treatment, and of course, a treat for a job well done.

Dog Spa Packages

A pampered, members-like welcome

Regulars were treated like extended family, with private dog-spa packages spanning self and assisted washes — the kind of routine that turned bath day from a chore into a treat.

Onsite Grooming

Express Grooming Salon, in-house

For dogs who needed more than a rinse, grooming came right to the shop through the Alexander & Yonis Express Grooming Salon — tidy trims and fresh-groom smiles without a second trip across town.

Wash while you shop

Built for real, busy dog-parent days.

In the heart of the Belle View Shopping Center, with easy parking, sidewalk shops, and groceries next door — so a bath never meant falling behind on errands.

The idea was simple: make a clean dog the easy part of the week. You could swing by between the grocery run and the dry cleaner, give your pup a proper wash without wrecking your tub, and walk out with a fresh, fluffy companion. Six stations meant short waits; seven-days-a-week hours meant bath time was whenever you needed it.

A gentle touch

Calm, careful, and genuinely fond of your dog.

What regulars remember most wasn't the equipment — it was the feeling. Dogs were greeted by name, washes were unhurried, and nervous pups were met with patience. It was the kind of place that understood a clean dog is really about a happy dog, and a happy dog is really about a happy family.

That spirit ran straight through from the boutique next door, where an off-leash policy and quiet “VIP” hours welcomed shy dogs, and adoption events and rescue fundraisers were part of the calendar.

The Fresh-Groom Smile

Walked out fluffier, prouder, and a little spoiled.

Onsite grooming through the Alexander & Yonis Express Grooming Salon meant a full clean-up and tidy trim under one roof — no second appointment across town.

There's a particular look a dog gets after a good groom — that bouncy, “don't I look great” strut. Sending pups home with that feeling was the whole point. Whether it was a quick freshen-up or the full works, the goal never changed: a comfortable dog and a delighted owner.

A heartfelt goodbye

After a year of mounting challenges — including repeated power outages that disrupted the shops — both Belle View locations close in September. The door message reads: “Though our doors will close, the bond we’ve built with you and your pets will always remain.”

To every dog who shook water all over our floors and every owner who trusted us with bath day — thank you. You made it a joy.

Our Belle View Home

1614 Belle View Blvd, Alexandria.

The Bark Bath sat inside the Belle View Shopping Center in the Belle Haven area of Alexandria — right beside the Pampered Pet boutique at 1612.

The shopping center has long been a friendly anchor for the neighborhood, with grocery, sidewalk shops, and easy parking. It made the corner an effortless stop for dog parents across the Mount Vernon and Belle Haven communities — and a familiar landmark many will still recognize on a walk past.

Where We Live On

The pampering spirit hasn't packed up entirely.

The Belle View storefronts have closed their doors, but the Pampered Pet name and its holistic, pamper-them-like-our-own philosophy carry on through the boutique brand that started it all.

If you're a former regular looking for the same kind of thoughtful pet care — or you just want to remember the place fondly — the boutique's website is the best place to keep in touch with the brand.

A note in keeping with everything we stood for: please support local, independent pet shops near you. They're the ones who'll greet your dog by name.
